Grantees' Impact
The McCormick Foundation Journalism Program gives grants to organizations that support
leadership in news organizations, freedom of expression, diversity in the news
media and military relations.
Did you know?
- The Journalism Program has conducted more than 350 workshops, conference and
seminars, in 2007, to help advance the ideals of freedom of press and other journalism topics.
- Funding from the Journalism Program has helped the Committee to Protect Journalist
(CPJ) encourage Mexican President Vicente Fox to appoint a special prosecutor that
will be responsible for investigating crimes against freedom of expression in Mexico.
- The McCormick Fellowship has helped the media achieve its diversity goals
by giving executive talent of color the opportunity to attend quality executive
development programs for 10 years. In a 2006 survey of 69 past McCormick
Fellows, 62 percent of respondents reported having received a promotion
and 62 percent of fellows also said that the Fellowship has contributed significantly
to their professional progress.
