Guidelines
Grants are made from the Morning Call Community Fund in response to applications from organizations with 501(c)(3) status addressing the program interests detailed in the Priority Interests section below. Agencies must be in operation for a minimum of one year and provide financial and evaluative information. Grants are focused on services to low-income individuals.
Primary Interests
Education & Literacy
- Educational and literacy based programs for children and adults
- Educational programs serving children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities
- Youth development organizations that provide mentoring and leadership development programs
Basic Human Needs
- Food banks, prepared foods and other programs that support community hunger relief
- Emergency, transitional housing shelters and assisted living programs
- Energy/utility and vital service programs that provide assistance during harsh weather months
- Programs and services designed to improve the basic well-being and living conditions for senior citizens.

The Morning Call’s nine-county circulation area.
Application Procedures
Grants may be made to specific programs or general support of the organization and are generally in the range of $5,000 to $25,000. An agency may apply for general support when all of the agency’s programs fit within guidelines.
The McCormick Foundation does not make grants to programs that would financially benefit
The Morning Call, Tribune Company, or its subsidiaries.
There is no guarantee of annual support. Also, generally, grantees will not receive more than three consecutive annual grants.
Special Grants
In special situations, the Morning Call Community Fund fund may consider and recommend grants not specifically included in the priority interests outlined in the program guidelines.
