Chicago Tribune Charities

Chicago Tribune's giving philosophy is in keeping with the company's mission: to help people engage their world. Chicago Tribune Charities helps the community by funding programs and special initiatives to help at-risk children and families, develop reading and literacy skills and alleviate hunger.

Through a unique philanthropic partnership, the Chicago Tribune and the McCormick Tribune Foundation have created Chicago Tribune Charities as a fund of the foundation. With its access to the public, the newspaper helps raise money for Chicago Tribune Charities through charitable donations from advertisers, community events and Chicago Tribune Holiday Giving.

Chicago Tribune Charities also raises money through special initiatives - partnerships with other nonprofit organizations to conduct dinners, galas and golf outings that benefit both the agency and Chicago Tribune Charities.

The seasonal campaign of Chicago Tribune Charities is Chicago Tribune Holiday Giving, which is promoted in the Chicago Tribune from November through January. Holiday Giving raises contributions from thousands of readers of the Chicago Tribune. These contributions are pooled to make significant charitable grants to nonprofit organizations serving metropolitan Chicago.

Last year, Chicago Tribune Charities provided more than $6.3 million to 169 nonprofit organizations located in Chicago and the suburbs.
